Senator "Care" in Nevada

chain of emails, read all the way through...
Senator "Care"'s responses will be in blue text... mine of course will be red

Senator Terry Care
Nevada Senate, Room 1224401
South Carson Street
Carson City, NV 89701-4747
Dear Senator Care,
No one should have to wonder whether they'll be able to care for their family, especially during a time of crisis. As a civil rights advocate and a Human Rights Campaign supporter, I ask that you vote in favor of equality and support the Domestic Partnership bill (SB 283) on the Senate floor. This bill creates domestic partnerships for committed same-sex couples who cannot marry and would extend to them many of the same state-level rights and responsibilities enjoyed by married couples. Enacting domestic partnerships through this legislation will continue to improve the economic health of our community. With your support for equality for all Nevadans, we can make Nevada an even better place to live, work, and raise our families.

Respectfully,Theresa
Las Vegas, NV 89121

Response from Senator "Care"
I am opposed to the bill.

My response
Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why? I am honestly intrigued by your abrupt response...

Response from Senator "Care"
The country will someday need to accommodate a relationship between same-sex couples. I don't know what form that should be, but I don't think this bill is it. (By way of background, I voted in 1999 for the legislation prohibiting discrimination in the work place based on perceived sexual orientation, and voted this session for the bill prohibiting the same type of discrimination in places of public accommodation.) What I find most troubling is the creation of this relationship for heterosexual couples. For me, it lessens the point of marriage. I understand not everyone agrees.

My response
I truly do appreciate you responding to my question. I do however, respectfully disagree. I am married (to a man) with six children and do not feel that anyone, including our government, should be able to dictate the right to love, nor the right to be entitled to the same rights as male/female couples. While I understand you being "troubled" by it, I do not understand why you feel the need to make this choice for others... which is what you have the power to do...I am humbly asking that you re-consider your actions and the effect it will have on others. I think now is the time that our "government" needs to "govern" love a little less and govern crime more....Thank you for your time.Theresa

My additional response (after reading his again....)
After reading this again... I am troubled by this being percieved as an accomodation... as if it is a handicap or disease. I don't think it is covered by the ADA... or am I missing something?

The only thing that eases my mind any is knowing that I did NOT vote for this horse's ass... and the reassurance that I never will.... just pisses me off that I was so fucking politically correct in my response... but being me would never have been read more than likely... and it pisses me off that I felt the need to clarify that I was in a hetero relationship, but felt like he wouldn't read if I came across as not... like i give a shit what he thinks of me... honestly before his response, i had no idea of who the fuck he was....

Will be interesting to see if any of the others respond (or have their aids respond for them)
